• The amygdalofugal pathway and the stria terminalis together  enable the corticomedial amygdala to directly control the medial hypothalamus and enable the basolateral amygdala to directly control the lateral hypothalamus and PAG,  or midbrain periaqueductal gray.
• In the human brain, the "'lateral parabrachial nucleus "'is one of three medial hypothalamus but also to the lateral hypothalamus and many of the nuclei targeted by the medial parabrachial nucleus.
• A study involving lesions and electrical-chemical stimulation in rodents and cats revealed that such a neural network consists of the medial amygdala, medial hypothalamus and periaqueductal grey ( PAG ), and it positively modulates reactive aggression.
• The subparabrachial nucleus receives signals from the gustatory portion of the solitary nucleus to the ventral posteromedial nucleus of the thalamus; and the lateral parabrachial nucleus receives information from the caudal solitary tract and transmits signals mainly to the medial hypothalamus but also to the lateral hypothalamus and many of the nuclei targeted by the medial parabrachial nucleus.
